ÖAMTC warns of online holiday booking price gaps

Flights and hotel stays are significantly cheaper when booked at airlines’ and hotels’ websites than via internet travel platforms, a new survey has shown.Officials at motorists’ association ÖAMTC said today (Mon) they had discovered differences in price of up to 142 Euros in tests in which they booked flights and hotel stays for three-day trips to Rome, Paris and Berlin.ÖAMTC experts advised people to reserve flights and hotel rooms directly on companies’ websites instead of using online holiday comparison platforms. They pointed out that the platforms might add various unwanted additional fees such as travel insurance but added they might also have better offers when it came to booking special package deals.ÖAMTC travel experts appealed to holidaymakers to read general terms and conditions on websites, print out booking confirmations and make screen shots in the process of booking.
