‘The Third Man’ tradition as popular as ever
A movie the British Film Institute named the best British film of the 20th century will be on at the Burgkino this Sunday (27 November).
THE THIRD MAN has been on at the Viennese cinema, which shows all films in their original language versions, for years. Tourists and local residents are flocking to the Burgkino each Sunday to watch the celebrated movie which was shot in 1949.
Roman Polanski’s (“The Pianist”) new film CARNAGE is sure to draw the masses as well. Austrian actor Christoph Waltz (“The Green Hornet”) stars in the eagerly awaited movie based on “God of Carnage”, a play by Yasmina Reza.
A DANGEROUS METHOD, which was directed by David Cronenberg, will also be on at the Burgkino this weekend. The film’s superb cast includes Keira Knightley (“Domino”) and Viggo Mortensen (“The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”).
Roland Emmerich’s (“2012”) new film ANONYMOUS and medical thriller CONTAGION will complete the Burgkino’s playbill.
The Burgkino is situated at Opernring 19 in the heart of Vienna. Popular sights like the Theatermuseum and St. Stephen’s Cathedral are in walking distance.
