Pirates to enthral me forever, says Depp

“Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp has said he may be gripped by the myths of ancient piracy for the rest of his life. The Hollywood actor – who currently stars in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, the fourth instalment of the hit adventure movie series – told Austrian magazine Live today (Fri): “I think I’ll always study pirates. It’s a lifelong fascination to me.”Depp, 47, added: “In a certain way, their ethics seem to have more moral than the ones of governments and militaries. As a pirate, you always get your equal share of the loot and your daily ratio of rum. This is unique.”Depp is reportedly set for a 30-million-Euro windfall as he agreed with producers of the new film to receive a share of the earnings in addition to his regular salary.Asked why he eventually agreed to star as Captain Jack Sparrow again after having made clear after the first three movies were finished that this marked the end for him, Depp said: “I simply love playing Captain Jack. His absurd antics – I enjoyed every minute of it.”- – -Vienna’s Burgkino (Opernring 19, +43 1 587 84 06, www.burgkino.at) is currently showing “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” in its original English version.
