Christina Stürmer named first Madame Tussauds Vienna statue

Pop star Christina Stürmer will be the first personality to be displayed at Vienna’s Madame Tussauds.Museum officials said today (Weds) the Austrian singer’s wax clone will be on show at the venue in the city’s Prater amusement park from 17 August, with around 70 further statues to follow in spring when the museum officially opens.Stürmer rose to fame after coming second in the first edition of Austrian TV casting show “Starmania” in 2003. She recently flew to London so Madame Tussauds experts could take her measurements to create her wax clone.”I’m speechless and overjoyed,” the 28-year-old artist said.Other celebrities to be portrayed in the museum are composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, former F1 champion Niki Lauda, actor Brad Pitt and US President Barack Obama.Reports have it that the British company managing the museum will have invested around 10 million Euros when the potential new top attraction opens next year.
