Huber happy as turnover jumps

Götzis-based clothes producer Huber Holding AG (Huber) has managed to achieve a higher turnover and earnings last year than in 2009.The Vorarlberg company said today (Mon) its turnover rose by 3.8 per cent to 101.3 million Euros, while earnings before interest and taxes (Ebit) soared from 2.7 million Euros in 2009 to 4.7 million Euros the following year.Huber explained it sold less in Eastern Europe (EE), but performed better in Central and Southern Europe in 2010 compared to the previous year. The company added a better performance in Austria and Asia also helped to compensate for difficulties in EE.”We managed to benefit from the recovery the global economy experienced last year,” Huber announced.The clothing manufacturer explained it carried out various internal restructuring measures to operate more efficiently last year.Referring to soaring cotton prices on the world market, Huber vowed not to pass on the extra costs it was currently confronted with to its customers in full.Huber produces clothes under the labels of Huber, Skiny and Hanro. It owns around 70 shops across Austria and employs nearly 900 staff.Earlier this month, Wolford AG – a Bregenz-based textiles and tights manufacturer – announced that its turnover climbed by 6.6 per cent to 120 million Euros in the first three quarters of the 2010/2011 business year compared to the same period of the previous business year. The Vorarlberg firm also said that its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) jumped by 31 per cent to 15.9 million Euros.
