IBM Austria gets new boss

Tatjana Oppitz has been named new chairman of International Business Machines (IBM) Austria.The businesswoman has worked for the American technology company since 1989. She succeeds Leo Steiner who was assigned by IBM North East Europe, it was announced today (Fri). Steiner was the firm’s CEO for four years.It was also announced that Christian Keller will become general director of IBM Alps.IBM was founded in 1911. The firm, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), recently made second place in an international analysis agency’s survey examining the most powerful companies in the world.Interbrand listed IBM behind beverages giant Coca Cola and ahead of IT company Microsoft in its Best Global Brands 2010 study. The agency rated IBM’s brand value at 64.7 million US dollars (49.91 million Euros), up by seven per cent year on year.
