Austrians splash out €154mn on hair

Austrians spent more than 150 million Euros on their hair last year, a survey has shown.GfK Austria found that the 8.5 million people living in the country invested 154 million Euros on hair care products and visits to the hairdressers in 2009.The agency said today (Tues) that its research has also shown five per cent of men and two per cent of women have a haircut every two to three weeks.Eighteen per cent – almost one in five men – never go to the hairdressers but cut their hair themselves or ask friends to do it.Eight per cent of questioned men said they considered women with crazy haircuts attractive and sexy, while only four per cent of female Austrians said the same about males with extraordinary haircuts.More than four out of 10 men (42 per cent) said they spend less than five minutes a day getting their hair in order. Only 13 per cent of woman said the same.
