Mobile communications provider 3 said today (Tues) 86,000 customers watched World Cup live coverage on their mobiles.The company said last Sunday’s final between Spain and the Netherlands (1-0) received the biggest hits, with all of the matches of the German national team recording good market shares as well.The firm added that customers watched on average 92 minutes of football action on their mobile phones, with the programmes of Austrian national broadcaster ORF’s ORF 1 being the most popular channel.New 3 chief Jan Trionow meanwhile claimed the company would be in the black soon.Trionow – who took over as CEO recently after Berthold Thoma died following a long disease last month – admitted 3 was still in the red, adding: “I’m convinced we are not far away from breaking even.”Trionow claimed none of 3’s domestic rivals grew stronger last year.The firm has around 905,000 customers, up from 240,000 in 2005.
