Styrian know-how keeps firms busy in South Africa

More than 80 Styrian companies do business in Football World Cup host country South Africa, economy officials have announced.Wolfgang Köstinger of the Austrian foreign trade department’s representation in Johannesburg said today (Thurs): “South Africa has a strong automobile industry. Especially Styrian firms are strongly engaged.”Köstinger mentioned Magna and AVL as leading companies doing business in the African country.He however also stressed the know-how of industrial plant producer Andritz and other Styrian technology firms was sought by the South African industry.Köstinger said he expected the World Cup – which will be kicked off with a gigantic opening ceremony tonight – to give all firms engaged in South Africa an extra boost.Asked whether what businessmen planning to become active in South Africa must focus on, he explained: “Being patient is the key. It needs to be considered that the so-called First and Third World meet in South Africa.”
