Generous donation to Austrian National Library

A private donation of more than 200 very valuable handwritings and certificates as well as 250 printings from the middle ages to modern times were given to the Austrian National Library by the Styrian collectors family Loibl.

The National Library emphasises that this donation is “one of the most important new acquisitions of the last decades.”

The estimated value of the donation amounts to 1.6 million Euros.

One of the most precious pieces of the collection, which was built up since the 1950s, is a single page from the Gutenberg Bible. The newest additions to the collection of the Austrian National Library will be open to the public in 2013.
