Slovenian accused of extorting friar over gay affair
A Slovenian man is facing jail after blackmailing a friar over a homosexual relationship.
Graz legal officials said today (Fri) the 23-year-old from Ljubljana - who will appear in court later this month - has been accused by a Styrian friar of trying to blackmail him over their affair.
The cleric said the Slovenian told him his wife was sick when they met in 2005. They started a homosexual relationship after the friar agreed to financially support him.
The Austrian paid several thousands Euros, but planned to abandon transactions over growing suspicions that the Slovenian had lied to him about his wife’s sickness.
The Roman Catholic friar, 33, informed police after the man threatened to make his sexual orientation and their affair public.
