Polish €11mn order for Kapsch

Viennese technology company Kapsch TrafficCom AG (Kapsch) has bagged a major assignment in Poland.The road toll systems specialist said today (Thurs) it will set up a digital radio system on 84 kilometres of railway network in the country. The company, which is headed by Georg Kapsch, added the contract was worth 11 million Euros.Kapsch official Horst Kaufmann said: “We are pleased about having received this assignment because it holds a lot of potential for further activities in Poland.”Kaufmann underlined that Poland – which joined the European Union (EU) in 2004 – has one of the most extensive railroad networks in Europe.Kapsch said in November that its turnover jumped by 85 per cent year on year in the first half of the 2010/2011 business year to 146.5 million Euros, while earnings before interest and taxes (Ebit) were 18.2 million Euros.The company is quoted on the Vienna Stock Exchange’s (WBAG) Prime Market. One stock cost 69 Euros at 3pm today.
