Austrian wins international bartenders contest

A Carinthian has been awarded the best barkeeper in the world.Mario Hofferer, who runs two bars and a catering company in his hometown Klagenfurt, won the “Classic” competition in the 2010 edition of the event which took place in Singapore.The International Bartender Association (IBA) announced today (Tues) the 27-year-old two-time Austrian bartending champion finished ahead of Greek Ioannis Zachopoulos and Vasil Kolev from Bulgaria.Dozens of award-winning barkeepers from all over the world, including Hofferer and fellow Austrian Stefan Haneder, took part in the “Classic” and other competitions.Hofferer revealed that “Rosemarie”, the cocktail which helped him to glory, was named after his mum.
