Blue Tomato to open Vienna flagship store
Snowboard, surfing equipment and clothing chain Blue Tomato will open a 1,000-square-metre flagship store in Vienna this autumn.Company officials announced today (Weds) that renovation of a former Niedermeyer store on Neubaugasse in the citys Neubau district had already begun. The plan was to open the new shop in September, they added.The Styrian firm plans to invest around two million Euros in the store. Company spokeswoman Alexandra Reiner said around 20 new jobs would be created.Blue Tomato already has shops in Styrian capital Graz and in winter sports hotspots Obertauern, Schladming and Haus im Ennstal.Reiner said around 90 per cent of the companys turnover derived from its online shop.Blue Tomato had turnover of 10 million Euros in its 2008/2009 business year.
