Austrian may have headed European prostitution ring
A 32-year-old Austrian is accused of having masterminded an internationally operating human-trafficking gang.Austrian police announced today (Thurs) that the man was arrested earlier this week. He is the main suspect in investigations into a prostitution business in Ibiza. Women from the Czech Republic, Germany and other countries were lured to the Spanish island.The Austrian and his aides are accused of persuading the women by promising high wages. Those who accepted received only a fraction of the 1,500 Euros per night for which they were hired out to punters.Police in Spain, Austria, Germany and several countries in Eastern Europe (EE) cooperated for more than two years examining and investigating the human traffickersÂ’ operations.
