Salzburg tourism on the rise
The city of Salzburg is more popular than ever with tourists from all around the world new figures have shown.
The figures from Salzburg tourist officials show that 12 per cent more tourists spent an overnight stay in Salzburg in April 2012 than in April 2011.
To date the record year of Salzburg tourism was 2006 – the Mozart year.
But according to tourism experts from Salzburg the record has now been broken.
The vice mayor Harald Preuner (SPÖ) said: “Double-digit growth numbers are uncommon in the tourism industry.”
With 185,000 overnight stays in April this year (2012), the increase is nearly 12 per cent if compared to the April of last year (2011).
The experts also say the increasing tourism numbers from January 2012 onwards has been sensational.
Targeted advertisements and the convenient position of Salzburg as an exhibition- and conference city are the reasons for the new record numbers, according to experts.
