Wolford turnover soars
Vorarlberg textiles firm Wolford has said it expects turnover to climb further this business year as good first quarter figures were presented today (Fri). The Bregenz-based company announced its operative losses fell from 3.307 million Euros to 2.466 million Euros year on year in the first three months of the current 2010/2011 business year. Its turnover jumped by 9.2 per cent to 29.842 million Euros, the firm added.WolfordÂ’s board said it expected turnover to improve further throughout this business year as consumersÂ’ mood “has lightened”.The textiles producer, which is listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange (WBAG), currently has 1,469 employees.Meanwhile, Austrian Industrial Association for Textiles, Clothes, Shoes and Leather (TBSL) head Reinhard Backhausen warned shoppers should brace themselves for rising clothes prices.Backhausen said earlier this week he expected “some kind of price increases” considering massive crop shortages which subsequently led to higher cotton trade rates.
