Wolford snares ex-Hugo Boss CEO

Former Hugo Boss chairman Werner Baldessarini has joined the supervisory board of an Austrian textiles firm, it emerged today (Thurs).Bregenz-based textiles and tights manufacturer Wolford said the Tyrolean has been assigned to help in positioning the company and its products.Baldessarini headed the executive board of German fashion giant Hugo Boss until 2002 before spending three years as part of its supervisory board. He also manages his own luxury clothes range called “Baldessarini”.Wolford recently reported a drop of operative losses from 3.307 million Euros to 2.466 million Euros year on year in the first three months of the current 2010/2011 business year. The firm added that turnover rose by 9.2 per cent to 29.842 million Euros.The company has around 1,500 employees. Wolford’s main market is Germany although the company also sells in Austria, and exports to the United States.Wolford increased efforts to gain male customers in the 1990s, but scrapped such initiatives after ‘tights for men’ turned out to be a massive flop. All of its products expect socks are targeted at for women.
