Strabag bags another Abu Dhabi order

Austrian construction top dog Strabag SE has won a second major assignment in Abu Dhabi within two months, it has been revealed.Company CEO Hans Peter Haselsteiner announced today (Weds) Strabag’s German subsidiary Züblin held 47.5 per cent of the assigned consortium, adding that the port construction project had a value of 105 million Euros.The new Khalifa Port is located around 60 kilometres from the city centre of Abu Dhabi. It will replace the existing central port in two years time.Haselsteiner said his firm is set to cooperate with local company Al Jaber Transport & General Contracting LLC.He said: “I’m positive to get a foothold in the region after being contracted to extend a refinery there only recently.”Strabag was ordered to build roads and 17 buildings at a refinery in Ruwais last month for 94 million Euros.Strabag is Austria’s strongest construction company ahead of Salzburg-based Alpine Bau and Vienna’s Porr.
