Wiberg 2009 turnover spiced up despite crunch

Spice producer Wiberg had a record turnover last year despite reducing the number of staff, it was announced today (Weds).The Salzburg firm said it managed to increase its annual turnover by two million Euros year on year to 122 million Euros despite the ongoing economic crisis in 2009. The number of employees meanwhile declined from 670 in 2008 to 640 the next year.Wiberg – who deliver catering firms, butchers and other businesses with its products – runs plants in Freilassing, Germany, and Los Angeles in the United States. Its American businesses headquarters are situated in the Canadian city of Canada.Lower Austrian company Kotanyi, one of Wiberg’s main rivals, announced already in March it achieved a record turnover of 125 million Euros last year, up by 2.5 per cent compared to the previous year.
