Vienna red ribbon kiss action announced

Thousands of kissing people will form a giant red ribbon at a the courtyard of Vienna’s Belvedere castle to make aware of the dangers of AIDS and HIV on 21 July.Agnes Husslein-Arco, director of the city’s Belvedere gallery, said yesterday (Mon) the first 1,000 people getting signed up to take part in the “Kiss at the Belvedere” initiative get a free red and white t-shirt by Austrian-Vietnamese designer Nhut La Hong.Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the 18th International AIDS Conference which will take place in the city from 18 to 23 July.The conference will be kicked off by the 18th Life Ball on 17 July. The ball, which takes place at City Hall, is the biggest AIDS/HIV charity event in the world.American actress Whoopie Goldberg and former US President Bill Clinton have been revealed recently as being among guests this year.Scottish singer Annie Lennox will meanwhile take part in a human rights demonstration on the capital’s streets on 20 July before hitting the stage the same night.
