Styrians enjoy holidays in their own province

One fifth of Styrians plan to spend their summer holidays within Styria according to a new study by Styrian tourism.

The most popular regions are the eastern Styrian thermal spa region as well as southern and western Styria.

Styria is also a popular holiday destination amongst the Viennese - 15 per cent of those asked in Vienna said they would be spending their summer holiday in Styria.

With around 314,000 guests arriving and around 967,000 overnight stays, Styrians really are staying within their own province.

Those Styrians most likely to holiday in their own province are aged between 40 and 59. They prefer the thermal spa regions. Graz is the second most popular destination and in third place is the Schladming Dachstein and Ramsau regions.

For those Styrians who prefer to stay in Austria Carinthia is also a popular destination.

Styria gets around 300,000 visitors from Vienna every year. This has increased dramatically over the past five years.
