Hans Grugger to get back on his skis

Hans Grugger, the four time world cup winning Austrian skier, is to return to skiing again almost 9 months after a life threatening crash.

Back in January, training on the Streif run at Kitzbühel, Grugger sustained serious injuries after badly timing a jump and crashing head-first into a ski piste.

In May, Grugger announced that he was determined to return to competitive top-level skiing and today the Austrian ski federation announced that he had been cleared by doctors to resume training.

On Wednesday, Grugger will ski at the Rettenbach glacier in Soelden, Austria, for the first time since undergoing a five-hour brain operation and 11 days of induced coma.
