Moseley marches on in Barcelona
Austrian track and field star Ryan Moseley made it into the next round at the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona yesterday (Tues).
The Barbados-born sprinter finished the 100 metres in 10.18 seconds to make the final 24 who are set to battle it out later today.
Norwegian Jaysuma Saidy Ndure was the only competitor faster than Moseley in his qualifier.
Moseley has now set his sights on the Austrian record held by Andreas Berger for 22 years (10.15 seconds). "I’m very motivated and convinced of being capable of making the final," the 28-year-old said.
Styrian javelin thrower Elisabeth Pauer failed to make the final 12 after finishing in 16th among 20 contenders with her attempt of 53.45 metres.
Fifteen Austrian athletes – of which just four are women – are competing in the tournament which kicked off yesterday.
