Austria Vienna have to do without Marko Stankovic for a few weeks after the striker suffered a broken hand as he rammed into a teammate in training.
The 24-year-old former Sturm Graz star missed yesterday’s (Sun) 4-3 win over LASK Linz due to Saturday’s incident in which he crashed into teammate Zlatko Junuzovic. Now club doctors said the injury was identified as a broken hand in an x-ray examination.
Kapfenberg meanwhile announced Serbian striker Srdjan Pavlov, 26, had undergone surgery at the Emergency Clinic Graz after breaking his ankle against Sturm Graz on Saturday (0-2).
Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Simon Cziommer will be sidelined for more than a month, after suffering a broken metatarsal bone in last Tuesday’s 0-1 defeat against Faroe Islands team HB Tórshavn in the return leg of the second round UEFA Champions League qualifier.
Coach Huub Stevens did not miss him on Saturday though since the second round league match between the "Bulls" and Wacker Innsbruck had to be called off after 24-hour rainfall wrecked the pitch.
Magna Wiener Neustadt lead the league after beating Rapid Vienna 2-1 yesterday, while Mattersburg were beaten 1-4 by SV Ried 1-4 on Saturday.
