Vanhoenacker wins 5th straight Ironman Austria triathlon
Mariono Vanhoenacker of Belgium won the Ironman Austria triathlon Sunday for a fifth straight year.
Vanhoenacker finished in 7 hours, 52 minutes, 5 seconds, in the men's race of the 12th Ironman Austria held in the Austrian southern city Klagenfurt.
It is the best performance in the Ironman Austria that finished the competition within 8 hours, which was also the fifth time for the 33-year-old Belgian to win the Austrian Ironman triathlon.
The men's competition was a three-part race consisting of a 3.8- kilometre swim, a 180-kilometre road cycling event, and a 42.195 kilometre run.
Vanhoenacker led the men out of the water with a time of 47 minutes 49 seconds, bicycle of 4 hours 18 minutes 30 seconds, and long run of 2 hours 42 minutes 3 seconds.
Another Belgian player Dennis Devriendt was in second in 8:12: 51.
Michael Weiss of Austria was third in 8:14:50.
In the women's race, Eva Dollinger of Austria led throughout, finishing in 9:18:50.
Karina Ottosen of Denmark was 16 minutes behind in second and Beate Goertz of Germany placed third in 9:38:56.
