Bundesliga makes €25,000 Haiti donation
The Austrian Football Bundesliga has donated 25,000 Euros to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, it was reported today (Weds).
Bundesliga head Georg Pangl said the Football Players’ Union (VdF) donated 12,500 Euros, which the league had decided to double.
"As in 2004 when we supported the victims of the Tsunami, we want to do our part in helping the many people in Haiti who urgently need support," Pangl said, adding that the money had been transferred to the Caritas charity group.
The announcement comes just days after the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) said 40,000 Euros were donated to the "Nachbar in Not" (Neighbour in Need) foundation made up of eight Austrian charities. Officials said the national team gave 20,000 Euros, while the ÖFB then added its own 20,000-Euro donation to the sum.
See www.caritas.at and www.nachbarinnot.at for information on how to donate.
