Raich and Walchhofer on podium in Lake Louise Super-G
By Thomas Hochwarter
Benjamin Raich and Michael Walchhofer saved
Austrian skiers’ honour by finishing yesterday’s (Sun) Lake Louise
Super-G in second and third.
Tyrolean all-rounder Raich was just
0.24 seconds behind Canadian Manuel Osborne-Paradis, with Michael
Walchhofer –fourth best Austrian in Saturday’s downhill event – in
third.
Klaus Kröll and Georg Streitberger were the next-best
placed Austrians as they finished in a joint, disappointing, 18th
place. Florian Scheiber came 28th, while Stephan Görgl, Hannes
Reichelt, Hans Grugger, Manuel Kramer and Romed aumann all dropped out.
The result was mirrored in yesterday’s Women’s Slalom in Aspen.
Marlies
Schild and Kathrin Zettel finished in second and third respectively
while Czech Šárka Záhrobská snatched victory. Elisabeth Görgl in 25th
was the third-best placed Austrian.
Zettel had a good weekend as
she came second in Saturday’s Giant Slalom behind German Kathrin Hölzl.
Eva-Maria Brem was the second-best placed Austrian in fifth.
