Marach qualifies for ATP Masters
By Thomas Hochwarter
Austrian
tennis ace Oliver Marach has reached a new high point of his career as
the doubles specialist has qualified for the ATP Masters Cup.
It
emerged today (Tues) that the 29-year-old Styrian and his Polish
partner Lukasz Kubot, 27, will compete at the London event from 22
November as the team cannot drop from the top eight of the ATP doubles
rankings before the tournament takes place.
Marach is the second
Austrian doubles player after Vorarlberg-based Julian Knowle to compete
in a Doubles Masters. Knowle accomplished that two years ago when he
played with Swede Simon Aspelin. Former ATP number one player Thomas
Muster is the only Austrian player to have played in a Singles Masters
event.
Marach and Kubot have won three tournaments this year, including Vienna’s BA TennisTrophy that took place earlier this month.
