August Penz resigns from Freedom Party
A former candidate of the Tyrolean Freedom Party (FPÖ) August Penz has resigned from the party.
In April an election campaign poster for his election resulted in a scandal due its alleged racist content. The posters showed Penz with the slogan "patriotism instead of Moroccan thieves" - causing tension between Morocco and Austria.
The case went to court and on Thursday Penz announced in the TV broadcast "Tirol Heute" ("Tyrol today") that he had resigned from the FPÖ due to the latest developments.
Penz emphasizes that he had nothing to do with the slogan - and also felt it to be distasteful.
