VINEUS Wine Culture Award 2012
The time has come once again to cast votes for the VINEUS Wine Culture Award. The Austrian public will decide for the third year in a row, which businesses and individuals in Austria will be awarded the prizes and recognised for their work in the country's food and drinks industry.
The competition will culminate in a celebration on 19 March in which the winner will be announced and people and companies thanked for their contribution to the Austrian wine culture. The event will be led by the head of the Slow-Food-Wien company, Barbara van Melle.
Around 50 renowned Austrian wine and food experts have nominated their favourite companies in the categories of gastronomy, hoteliers, sommeliers and lifes work, based around a mutual love of wine. In the category of "Newcomer Wine Producer", the jury chose from some 60 applicants who they believe to be the five best wineries.It is now up to the Austrian public to decide who gets the ultimate accolade.
Votes can be placed between now and 5 March online at www.vineus.at for the public's favourite restaurateurs, hotelieres and wine newcomers. The prizes for the top sommeliers and the winner of the Life Work award will be decided by the experts and all will be announced at the VINEUS gala.
Five pairs of tickets for the event in March, which will play host to 300 prominent guests from the food and wine industry, are also up for grabs in a raffle for all who cast their vote.
