Vienna hosts Canine Science Forum

Thousands of animal experts and dog enthusiasts have arrived in Vienna to discuss latest scientific developments at the Second Canine Science Forum.

Organisers of the congress, which started earlier this week and will end tomorrow (Weds), said the first edition of the event in the Hungarian capital Budapest in 2008 showed that there was a need for an interdisciplinary forum that brings together scientists with different expertise on dogs.

A decision to make the conference a bi-annual occurrence was made over Budapest summit participants’ desire to meet regularly, they added.

Various workshops and platform discussions are currently being held at Vienna’s University of Veterinary Medicine (VU) as veterinarians, dog trainers and pet owners debate various issues regarding raising and keeping canines.

The summit comes one week after around 25,000 people attended events held across the city as part of the 18th International AIDS Conference.
