Dead homeless woman owned €80,000

An elderly Graz woman nicknamed the "Queen of the Homeless" amassed a fortune before dying, it has emerged.

Genealogist Robert Seebacher said today (Tues) he had investigated the life story of the woman who passed away at the age of 72 last year after she failed to make a testament. And the historian found that the former professional ballet dancer – who was well known in the Styrian capital – had around 80,000 Euros stashed away.

Four half siblings are now set to inherit the money. They had never been in touch with the homeless woman as their mother had put them all up for adoption.

The case comes only a few months after a Scottish nun inherited a booming brothel from her deceased Austrian mother.

Genealogists were asked to investigate after brothel-owning Linda K. died at the age of 75 in Styria. They discovered she also had a fortune, but no husband and apparently no relatives. But they then found that the woman, who had earlier toured with a circus, had handed her baby to a Scottish orphanage soon after giving birth in the country.

The baby - now a 55-year-old nun living near Glasgow, Scotland - decided to sell the brothel and donate the money to poor children in India.
