Solar power ski lift will be ready for December

The cable car specialist "Doppelmayr" are currently developing the world’s first cable car functioning on solar power to a greater degree than ever before.

The construction on the revolutionary new cable car at the "Hüttenkopfbahn" have been ongoing in the ski region Golm in Vorarlberg since July.

A cable car the size of the "Hüttenkopfbahn" consumes about 180,000 kilowatt-hours. The solar energy plant will provide for a third of the necessary power - around 60,000 kilowatt-hours in the future.

Overall 6.5 Million Euros will be invested in the new energy source. The solar power plant will be activated first in November ready to bring skiers and snowboards up the mountain at the beginning of December when the ski season officially begins.
