Ice-Lady trial date is fixed

The court case against "Ice-Lady" Estíbaliz Carranza who is suspected of murdering her husband and boyfriend before mutilating them and burying them in the walls of her cellar is to take place on 19 November.

The date was fixed after psychiatrist Adelheid Kastner who was shrink to incest monster Josef Fritzl carried out a psychiatric analysis on Estibaliz in Linz, spending more than 30 hours questioning her.

Kastner has now produced a 140 page document for the courts confirming she is fit to stand trial.

The conclusion was that: "Estibaliz C. suffers from a personality disorder, she has serious mental and psychological abnormalities. It has to be feared that the woman could commit further acts with serious consequences.

Carranza herself admitted: "I fear I could kill again." The psychiatrist also concluded that if convicted it would be wise for the woman to be sent to a secure psychiatric ward and added that the chances of her carrying out a further murder were at least at around a third. In comparison in most cases of murder the estimate of the possibility of a repeat similar offence is less than 10%.

According to the report she is however fit to stand trial. But Kastner concluded it has to be taken into account that her psychological impairments are so considerable that if she were to be found guilty she should not simply be sent to a prison, but also be admitted to an institute for mentally disturbed criminals.

Carranza, 32, was arrested in June 2011 for allegedly killing her husband in 2008 and then her boyfriend in 2010. She is accused of having decapitated her victims and then chopped their bodies into pieces before stuffing them into rubbish bags and cementing them into her cellar.

In the analysis by Kastner, Carranza said nothing is more important to her now than her child who was born in January.

According to the document the accused is said to have had phantasies of murder since she was young and allegedly made murder plans at the time. The victims were to be her father and her first boyfriend.

She gave birth to her baby Rolando at the beginning of January and has received visits from the child and the child’s father Roland. Due to the severity of the crimes believed to have been committed by the mother, she was not deemed to be a suitable carer and was immediately separated from the child at birth.
