Lesbian couple with kids refused family pass

The Austrian miniature world Minimundus has come under fire after they refused to grant a family pass to a lesbian couple and their two children.

The two married women and their two children were forced to buy two single tickets and two child tickets costing far more than the reduced family pass of 30 euros.

Minimundus manager Hannes Guggenberger blamed tax laws that forbade the sale to gay couples, but later retracted the statement saying that it had simply not come up before - and in future gay couples would also be entitled to the family card.

Guggenberger added that he had tried to contact the couple personally to apologise but after failing to reach them he apologised in public, saying"I regret the incdient very much. I would like to invite them here again as our guest or at least to compensate them in some way."

The attraction that has mioniature versions of many of the world's most famous landmarks that is located close to the Wörthersee has around 200,000 visitors a year.
