Police shoot at BMW serial thief
A car thief was shot at as he tried to make off in the car in St Michael in Burgenland, Austria.
The thief tried to escape when he saw cops and drove straight toward the cops. In retaliation the policeman shot at the car to try and stop the thief in his tracks.
Police were called to the scene when the alarm started going off at the BMW dealer.
They caught the thief in the act breaking into the car dealer.
When the thief noticed he ran towards the getaway car, a black BMW.
Policeman Ewald Dragosits said: "A policeman released a shot into the air to shock the thief. The man then tried to drive right at the police. Our policemen then in defence fired three shots at the car."
The man was however able to flee. Police are now searching for the thief on the ground and with helicopters.
This is the fourth time that the BMW dealer has been broken into in the last few months.
Car dealer Ernst Kohla said: "It is just horror experience. We got a call early in the morning to say we had yet another break in.
The thief has tried to steal numerous cars by breaking the drivers windows.
Ewald Dragosits said: "We caught them just before they were about to make off with the cars. They were waiting for them to be picked up.
