International drug gang caught
Eight members of an international drug gang have been arrested after a long investigation by Viennese police.
Investigators in Vienna got on the trail of the drug ring in Autumn 2010 - the international drug gang were active in Austria, Spain, Belgium, Italy, The Netherlands and Brazil.
The 28-year-old gang leader was tracked down in Madrid, Spain. An international arrest warrant was issued.
Viennese police followed the trail of the man through Nigeria, Turkey, The Netherlands, Belgium and then finally Spain.
He has now been brought to Austria.
As a result of the investigations eight members of the gang have been arrested since October 2011.
The men are all aged between 24 and 39 and were smuggling drugs and money as well as operating as dealers.
During the arrests police were also able to secure 6.4 kilos of cocaine and heroin with an estimated street value of 600,000 Euro.
