Dead child found in search for missing boy
Police have announced this afternoon that they have found a child’s body on the playground on the North Sea holiday island of Amrum, Germany, where a missing Viennese 10-year-old was last seen playing on Sunday.
Police found the body hidden under the pirate ship at around 14.00 today (Weds).
The cause of death is still unknown. According to the Foreign Ministry in Vienna local authorities suspect it was an accidental death.
However, without going into further detail police in Husum who are dealing with the case claim there was a tip off which led to the playground being searched again this afternoon.
This afternoon the pirate ship climbing frame where Sebastian was last seen playing was cleared and blocked off. A short while later a screen was put up and a digger brought in.
This digger dug up the body a short while later.
A post mortem should reveal the cause of death.
More than 50 rescuers were involved in the search including helicopters, boats and search and rescue dogs.
A search campaign had also been launched throughout Germany on posters and on tv as well as on Facebook.
Sebastian, 10, disappeared from the village of Wittdün at around 6 pm on Sunday. He was last seen playing on an adventure playground near the holiday home where he was staying with his parents and sister.
