Pupil jailed over fake note fraud

An Austrian schoolboy aged 15 has been jailed for five months after he used his parents colour photocopier to print thousands of euros worth of fake bank notes after watching a program about counterfeiting on local television.

The youngster from Linz in Austria was caught after dishing the notes out to friends to use in the school canteen and tuck shop - leading police to swoop in and question pupils after the flood of fake notes was discovered.

In total the youngster handed out 3,000 euros worth of fake cash, saying he wanted to win friends as he often felt like an outsider.

After the discovery the boy was kicked out of the school.

The maximum sentence for counterfeiting is five years.
