Child dies after third-floor window plunge

A one-and-a-half-year-old boy has died after falling out with the third-floor window in Rauchfangkehrergasse at Vienna's Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district.

Police said that at the moment it was unclear how the boy came to for out of the window of his parents flat.

Both of the parents are currently being treated for shock and it was not possible to speak to either of them.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene and attempted to reanimate the boy who had severe head injuries and numerous broken bones.

He was flown by helicopter to the SMZ Ost where he later died.
