Man plunges from balcony while spitting a cherry stone

A 23-year-old man was knocked unconscious when he fell 5 metres off a balcony during an impromptu cherry-stone spitting contest during a party in Aschach an der Donau, in Eferding, Upper Austria.

The over enthusiastic man tumbled over the balcony after he took a run up and lost his balance - plunging over the balcony in the weekend incident.

The man landed on the ground below and was knocked unconscious. An emergency team were called and after initial treatment, he was taken to hospital where he is still recovering.

The accident happened when party goers started a competition to see who could spit cherry stones the furthest.
