Land locked family battle for lakeside view

A family who own a spectacular plot of building land alongside a picture postcard Austrian lake are unable to build on it - because all the neighbouring land has been built on - and they have no access road.

The only way members of the Neuner family can reach the lakeside plot at the Austrian Worthersee is by helicopter - or to swim there.

And although there is a small access road - it is privately owned and with the owners refusing to let them use it - they can not reach their plot.

Three years ago businesswoman Franziska Neuner applied for the permission to build a modern family house on the plot - but because she had no right to use the road she was refused.

The family lawyer Hans Georg Mayer who has been fighting for an access road to the 1,600 square meter plot at Krumpendorf said: "Without any way to get the materials to their plot to build their dream house, it will remain just that - a dream."

He has already been to court twice - without success.
