Paraglider dies after perfect landing

An Upper Austrian man died of cardiac arrest moments after landing safely with a paraglide yesterday (Tues).

The 59-year-old from Gramastetten in Urfahr-Umgebung district collapsed shortly after touching down without any difficulties on a meadow outside the town, according to local police. He was already dead when an ambulance reached the scene, they added.

Earlier this month, a 24-year-old paraglider got away with slight injuries after crashing through the window of an apartment in Rankweil, Vorarlberg. The man’s attempts to carry out a controlled landing were foiled by strong winds. No one else was harmed in the incident as the family who own the flat were not at home at the time the man ended up in their living room.
