Brit pensioner cycles on motorway
Salzburg traffic police kept an elderly Briton from cycling through a motorway tunnel yesterday (Thurs).
Russel M., 74, was about to enter the A10 Tauern motorway’s Reit tunnel near Hüttau in the province of Salzburg when police officers arrived to stop him.
Several drivers called traffic authorities to inform them about a man cycling along the busy highway.
The man – touring Italy and Austria on his bike – told stunned police officers he had been driving on the A10 for more than 10 kilometres.
Police gave the pensioner a lift to the nearest exit from where he continued his trip.
