Kitten found hundreds of kilometres from home

A cat has been reunited with its owners after being found almost 500 kilometres from home.

Inge Welzig, head of the Tyrolean Animal Protection Association, took in the moggy after finding it roaming the streets of Innsbruck yesterday (Thurs). She checked the animal’s implanted chip to find out that it belonged to a family in Graz – around 480 kilometres from Innsbruck.

Owner Jasmin Wailand said her 20-month-old son Pascal was delighted to be reunited with one-year-old "Lea" after two weeks. "We don’t really care whether she walked all the way, hopped on trains or hid in engine bays of cars," the 26-year-old said today.
