Policeman steals €70,000 from pensioner
An anti-fraud police official embezzled thousands of Euros from a pensioner, it emerged today (Weds).
The 50-year-old officer was fired after a social care worker discovered he had channelled off around 70,000 Euros from a 70-year-old man who got in touch with police after being cheated by a fake mail order scam.
The policeman was assigned to assist the elderly Salzburg-based man with handling his finances to help him getting back on track while colleagues investigated the bogus business operations.
Now the former Salzburg Airport security official faces a jail following a trial set to start next month.
