Austrian drowns in Croat Adriatic Sea

An Austrian holidaymaker drowned in the Adriatic Sea at the weekend, it was confirmed today (Tues).

A spokeswoman for police in Porec said bathers discovered the motionless body of Peter W. from Vienna floating in the sea on Sunday afternoon. She said resuscitation attempts by tourists and lifeguards failed.

The 68-year-old was staying at the Hotel Laguna Galijot, according to local media.

Austrian statistics agency Statistik Austria meanwhile said 64 people drowned in Austria last year.
