Hiker killed in alpine accident

One man has been killed and a second badly injured after plunging into a gully while walking in the dark after a party in Lilienfeld.

The pair - who are both pensioners - were walking down an unmarked path on their way back from a mountain hut party when one of the men aged 68 slipped and fell into a gully and was killed instantly.

The second man aged 61 also fell and was badly hurt.

The pair were reported missing by their relatives and only found late today (Mon) after a search lasting several hours.
