Jochum is new head of Hypo Tirol Bank

Markus Jochum, 56, is the new chairman of the board at Hypo Tirol Bank and will begin work today (Mon).

The former head of Tiroler Sparkasse, he is expected to set the bank on a positive course in the wake of a number of problems and negative publicity during the next five years for which he has a contract.

The bank, which has 700 employees and total assets of more than 12 billion Euros, claims it is the biggest credit provider in Tyrol and extends credit to two large companies, a third of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and 70 per cent of provincial municipalities.

Bank supervisory board chairman Wilfried Stauder has said that Jochum has impressively demonstrated his competence as chief of Tiroler Sparkasse.
